there was a negative wind chill today. the kind that makes you walk backwards rather than face the gusts of doom. i was staring at my orange shoes and considering on a scale of 1 to 10 just how silly i was for wearing mesh pants. i passed through a crowd of people waiting for the bus.
"it's cold and she's smiling," a man observed. i looked up, then realized the she was me. "i like that!" he returned.
i grinned. people laughed. maybe because it was funny. maybe because it distracted us from the early stages of frostbite on our fingers and toes.
and i like that.
